NO PASS NO PAY!!!
If your car is 10 years or newer, on the first MOT test each year, we will only charge the MOT fee if your car passes - no strings attached - NO PASS NO PAY!!!
Did you know the vast majority of cars pass first time - as a matter of fact South East London has one of the highest pass rates in the UK for MOT tests.
If your car is one of the unlucky few that does fail the MOT test, we would love to get you an estimate of the cost of repairs, and then carry out any necessary repairs for you. However, there is no obligation for you to leave your car with us to have the repairs carried out.
If your car is tested a second time and fails again, we will charge for the MOT at our current rate.
We provide one of the best services for MOT tests at our test centre in Rushey Green, Catford, South East London. By using highly experienced staff and equipment you can be assured your car is in good hands to be inspected.
We can test Class 4 (Cars) and Class 7 (vans) at our garage.
Contact us on 020 8690 6363 for more information on availability or click here to book your MOT test now - most days you can just drive up to have your MOT done.
Some frequently asked questions about the MOT test
Can I book an appointment for my MOT?
For your convenience we have an MOT test reservation system so you can choose a time that is convenient to you, or if you prefer not to book, you can present your vehicle for MOT any time within our testing hours, and vehicles will be tested on a first come first served basis. Please note the reservation time is not a guarantee that your MOT test will be carried out at that exact time but we will endeavour to carry out the MOT as close to the time booked as possible.
How long will the MOT take?
On average each MOT test takes 30 - 45 minutes.
When can I bring my car in for an MOT?
We start testing from 8.30am Monday to Saturday. The last MOT is commenced at 4.30pm Monday to Friday, and at 3.00pm on Saturday. Please ring ahead of time if you are trying to catch the last MOT test, as if there are cars waiting to be tested, we may not be able to carry out the MOT on your car - please try to arrive as early in the day as possible to avoid disappointment.
What items get checked on the MOT?
The MOT test comprises a long list of items, many of which cannot be checked without specialist equipment, such as brakes, headlamp alignment, and exhaust emissions testers. Items checked include lighting, steering, suspension, exhaust system, seatbelts, tyres, to name but a few.
I had my car serviced last week, so it should pass the MOT?
The MOT test and a service are two completely separate operations. However, a vehicle which has had a thorough service by a reputable garage, and has had any recommended repairs carried out, will very likely pass the MOT test. But please bear in mind, by way of example, minor items like light bulbs on the vehicle can fail at any time, even minutes after the car has been serviced, just like the light bulbs in your house.
Can I have my MOT and service carried out at the same time?
Many of our customers like to have these two often annual events done at the same time, to minimize the time the vehicle is off the road. This is purely a matter of personal preference, and we are delighted to accommodate whichever choice you make.
A small investment in routine servicing, plus a good inspection programme, results in a good return on that investment because of:
- Reduced cost of repairs over the life of your ownership of your vehicle
- Peace of mind with reduced the risk of breakdown
- Less chance of accidents due to worn or dangerous components
- The possibility of greater fuel economy
- Keeps the vehicle operating at its maximum efficiency
Servicing costs start from as little as £99 - contact our service department on 020 8690 6363 or use our online booking system now to book your annual service.

All cars are now fitted with computers and a myriad of technology to run and monitor the internal workings of the vehicle. One of the most important functions these computers provide is ensuring your car is operating within the manufacturers parameters; the engine, safety systems (ABS, Anti-Slip etc. etc.) are all operating correctly and safely. Most people usually only become aware of the functions of these computers when one of the fault warning indicators illuminates on the dashboard. We have the equipment and skills to diagnose and repair the vast majority of these faults.

Did you know the maximum fine which a court can impose for using a vehicle with a defective tyre is £2,500 and three penalty points (£5,000 in the case of a goods vehicle or a vehicle constructed or adapted to carry more than eight passengers). Responsibility for making sure your tyres are legal is an all year round requirement - not just at the time of the MOT test.
Look for cuts, cracks and bulges, or any other evidence of damage, from violent impact or kerbing, or excessive wear on the inside or outside of the tyre. Damaged tyres may be illegal and can be dangerous. For peace of mind, call into Rushmores for some friendly expert advice and ask for your free tyre check. Rushmores are a Black Circles Premier Fitting Partner.
You may not be aware that over 10% of air con gas is lost from the air conditioning system every year.
This means that it may not work as well as it should. This service is not part of routine vehicle servicing so if your vehicle is more than 2 years old it's probably due for an air con service or at the very least a recharge.
It is advisable to use the air conditioning system on the car all year round - this keeps all the relevant components lubricated, and cleans the air coming into the car.
Please contact our service department on 020 8690 6363 or use our online booking system to book an air con service or inspection.
Your car's suspension is a vital safety issue for your vehicle.
Worn shock absorbers not only reduce driver comfort, but they can also dramatically affect the handling and safety of your car.
Worn suspension components may also cause an irritating knocking noise.
