NO PASS NO PAY!!!
If your car is a Y-registered car or newer, on the first MOT test each year, we will only charge the MOT fee if your car actually passes the MOT - no strings attached - no pass no pay!!!
Obviously, if your car does fail the MOT test, we would love to get you an estimate of the cost of repairs, and then carry out any necessary repairs for you. However, there is no obligation for you to leave your car with us to have the repairs carried out.
If your car is tested a second time and fails again, the full MOT fee will be charged.
Some frequently asked questions about the MOT test
- Can I book an appointment for my MOT?
For your convenience we have an MOT test reservation system so you can choose a time that is convenient to you, or if you prefer not to book, you can present your vehicle for MOT any time within our testing hours, and vehicles will be tested on a first come first served basis, with reservations taking precedence.
- How long will the MOT take?
On average each MOT test takes 30 - 45 minutes.
- When can I bring my car in for an MOT?
We start testing from 8.30am Monday to Saturday. The last MOT is commenced at 4.30pm Monday to Friday, and at 3.00pm on Saturday. Please ring ahead of time if you are trying to catch the last MOT test, as if there are cars waiting to be tested, we may not be able to carry out the MOT on your car - please try to arrive as early in the day as possible to avoid disappointment.
- What items get checked on the MOT?
The MOT test comprises a long list of items, many of which cannot be checked without specialist equipment, such as brakes, headlamp alignment, and exhaust emissions testers. See our MOT information section for some useful pointers.
- I had my car serviced last week, so it should pass the MOT?
The MOT test and a service are two completely separate operations. However, a vehicle which has had a thorough service by a reputable garage, and has had any recommended repairs carried out, will very likely pass the MOT test. But please bear in mind, by way of example, minor items like light bulbs on the vehicle can fail at any time, even minutes after the car has been serviced, just like the light bulbs in your house.
- I've lost my MOT which was carried out by your garage, can I get a duplicate?
Yes. We can search the central MOT database records, and provide a duplicate certificate, for a statutory fee of £10. If the MOT test was not carried out by us please bring along the V5 vehicle registration document.
- Can I have my MOT and service carried out at the same time?
Many of our customers like to have these two often annual events done at the same time, to minimize the time the vehicle is off the road. This is purely a matter of personal preference, and we are delighted to accommodate whichever choice you make.
